Legal regulations for eBikes

Hey everyone!

I've been looking into getting a new eBike, maybe a Class 3 for my commute which is about 15 miles each way with some decent hills. But the more I research different brands and models, the more I realize how confusing the legal regulations are, especially crossing state lines or even just between different cities. It seems like what's perfectly fine on a Specialized Vado in one place might be restricted on a Trek Allant in another.

What are your experiences with navigating these rules? Have any of you run into issues with a specific eBike class or motor wattage, especially when traveling or commuting across different jurisdictions? I'm trying to figure out if it's worth sticking to a Class 1 for simplicity, even if I'd prefer the extra speed for those hills.
