eBike technology explained

I've been eyeing some folding eBikes lately for my commute – thinking it'd be super handy to pop it on the train for part of the journey and then ride the rest. I'm curious about the tech side of things, especially with the smaller wheels and frames. How do folding eBikes generally handle motor placement (hub vs. mid-drive) and battery integration compared to full-size eBikes, given the space constraints? Does this impact performance or range much when you're riding, say, 10-15 miles on mixed city terrain? Looking forward to hearing your insights!
