Legal regulations for eBikes

Hey everyone!

Just picked up my first eMTB (a sweet hardtail!) and I'm absolutely loving hitting the local trails and even commuting a bit. It's been great for extending my range, but I'm getting a bit confused about all the different legal regulations out there. Does anyone else find it a minefield trying to figure out what's allowed where, especially with different classes and state/local rules? I'm particularly curious about Class 1 vs. Class 2 on multi-use paths.

What's been your experience navigating this, and any tips for staying on the right side of the law?
