eBike technology explained

Hope you're all having some great rides out there. I've been loving my AiPAS 500, especially on those longer weekend routes around the local hills – the assist just makes it so much more enjoyable. I was thinking, while I appreciate the feel of the assist, I don't really understand the how behind it all.

For those of you who are more tech-savvy, could someone give a simplified explanation of how the torque sensor and cadence sensor systems work, and maybe the pros and cons of each? I'm curious about what makes our AiPAS bikes feel so smooth.
