New to eBikes - where to start?

I'm completely new to the eBike world and feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the options out there. I'm looking to get my first eBike, primarily for commuting about 10 miles each way on paved roads with some moderate hills, and maybe some light weekend trail riding. For those of you who've been through this, what was your first eBike and what made you choose it? Any specific models or types (like a commuter vs. a hybrid) you'd recommend looking into for a beginner like me, especially considering my intended use? I'd love to hear your personal experiences and recommendations!

Welcome to the eBike world, it's a fantastic journey! For your commute and light trail riding, a good quality hybrid eBike sounds like a perfect fit. My first eBike was a Specialized Vado, and I chose it for its comfortable geometry, reliable Bosch motor, and integrated lights – super practical for commuting. Brands like Rad Power Bikes (RadCity/RadRover for a bit more trail capability), Aventon (Level.2), or even some of the Trek/Giant hybrid models are excellent starting points to check out, as they offer a great balance of comfort, power, and versatility for both paved roads and those moderate trails. Definitely try to test ride a few if you can!
