Legal regulations for eBikes

Been thinking a lot about DIY eBike builds lately, especially with all the cool new motors and battery tech out there. My current ride is a Class 2 conversion kit on an old mountain bike, and it's been a blast for my daily commute. But it got me wondering, for those of you who've gone full custom or pushed the limits with powerful motors, how do you navigate the legal side of things? Are you sticking to Class 1/2/3 limits, or have you run into any issues with local regulations regarding modified eBikes? Curious to hear your experiences!
