eBike technology explained

by ChrisJohnson1 day ago

Hey everyone! I'm new to the Lectric owners' club with my XP 3.0, and I'm absolutely loving it for my daily commute. I've been curious about the different eBike technologies out there, especially how our Lectric bikes manage their pedal assist and throttle. Does anyone have a good, simple explanation of how the motor controllers and sensors (cadence vs. torque) actually work to give us that boost? I'm trying to understand the tech a bit better beyond just riding!

Hey, welcome to the Lectric family and congrats on the XP 3.0! It's awesome you're digging into the tech behind your ride.

For your Lectric, it uses a cadence sensor for pedal assist. This means it detects if you're pedaling and at what speed, then applies power based on your assist level setting, regardless of how hard you're pushing. The throttle bypasses the sensor entirely, giving you power on demand. Torque sensors, on the other hand, measure how hard you're pedaling, offering a much more natural and intuitive boost, almost like your own power is being amplified directly. Both have their pros and cons, but cadence is great for consistent, easy power delivery!
