Best eBike brands overall

by EmilyThompsonabout 23 hours ago

Hey everyone!

I've been lurking for a bit and finally decided to jump in. I'm looking to upgrade my current eBike (a pretty basic commuter model) and I'm really keen on something I can potentially tinker with down the line, maybe add a different controller or upgrade the battery myself. This got me thinking: what do you all consider the best eBike brands overall, especially if you're thinking about long-term ownership, reliability, and maybe even DIY-friendliness? Are there any brands that stand out for their build quality or ease of modification?

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum! That's a great question, especially about DIY-friendliness. For modding potential and long-term support, I'd definitely look into brands that use more standardized components, like Bafang or Tongsheng motor systems on open platforms, rather than highly proprietary setups. Companies like Aventon or Rad Power Bikes are popular for their value and community support, which can be a big plus for finding modding advice.
