New to eBikes - where to start?

Hey everyone,

I'm totally new to the eBike world and have been lurking here for a bit, soaking up all the awesome knowledge! I'm really keen to build my own eBike from a regular mountain bike I already own, but I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed with all the options for motors, batteries, and controllers. For someone just starting out in DIY, what's the best bang for the buck kit or setup you'd recommend for a first-timer, perhaps for some light trail riding and commuting? Any tips on what to look out for, or common pitfalls to avoid?
