Legal regulations for eBikes

Hey everyone,

Been thinking a lot about eBike regulations lately, especially with all the cool DIY mods people are doing. It seems like every state (and even city!) has slightly different rules about motor wattage, top speed, and whether you can even mod your bike beyond a certain point before it's considered a moped or something else entirely.

For those of you who've done motor upgrades or pushed the speed limits on your DIY builds, how do you navigate the legal side of things? Have you run into any issues, or do you just ride responsibly and hope for the best? Curious to hear your experiences and tips!
