New to eBikes - where to start?

Hey everyone!

I've been lurking for a bit and finally decided to jump into the eBike world, but wow, it's a lot to take in! I'm looking to get something primarily for commuting about 10 miles each way on paved roads, maybe some light gravel trails on weekends. My main question is: what's the absolute first thing a newbie should consider when looking at models – motor type, battery size, or something else entirely? Any advice for a complete beginner would be awesome!
