New to eBikes - where to start?

Hey everyone!

I'm totally new to the eBike world and super excited to dive in, especially on the DIY side of things. I've been looking at converting my old mountain bike (a decent hardtail, mostly used for light trails and commuting ~10 miles round trip) into an eBike. My main question is: for a first-timer looking to do a conversion, what kind of motor kit (hub vs. mid-drive) would you recommend for ease of installation and overall value, considering I'm not looking to break the bank but want something reliable? Any specific brands or tips for a newbie tackling this?
