Legal regulations for eBikes

Hey everyone!

I've been loving my new Specialized Vado SL 4.0 for my daily commute (about 15 miles round trip, mostly bike paths and city streets), and it's got me thinking. With more and more eBikes hitting the road, the legal landscape seems to be a bit of a patchwork.

Does anyone else find it confusing trying to keep up with the different classes (Class 1, 2, 3) and how they apply in various states or even different cities? I'm particularly curious about how this impacts folks who might travel with their eBikes – do you find yourselves having to research local laws every time you go somewhere new? What's been your experience navigating this?
