eBike Changed My Life (Not Exaggerating)
I know this sounds dramatic, but getting an eBike six months ago legitimately changed my life and I wanted to share my story.
Background: I'm 52 years old, about 40 pounds overweight, and I haven't exercised regularly in probably 15 years. My doctor told me I was pre-diabetic and needed to make lifestyle changes or I'd be on medication soon. I tried going to the gym but I hated it and quit after two weeks.
Then I saw someone riding an eBike and thought "that looks fun." I bought a Lectric XP 3.0 on a whim and started riding it around my neighborhood. At first I used the highest assist level and barely pedaled. But gradually I started using lower assist levels and pedaling more.
Six months later, I've lost 25 pounds, my blood sugar is back to normal, and I actually look forward to riding every day. I'm not using it for commuting or anything practical - I just ride for fun. Sometimes I'll ride to the grocery store instead of driving. Sometimes I'll take a longer route just because.
The crazy part is that it doesn't feel like exercise. It feels like fun. And because the eBike takes away the "hard" part, I'm actually consistent with it. I've ridden at least 4-5 times per week for six months straight, which is more exercise than I've done in the past decade combined.
I'm not saying eBikes are magic or anything. But for someone like me who hates traditional exercise, having the motor assist made all the difference. I can ride as much or as little as I want, and I never feel like I'm going to die going up a hill.
Just wanted to share this in case anyone else is on the fence about getting an eBike. For me, it was absolutely worth it.
