New to eBikes - where to start?

Hey everyone!

Just joined the forum and super excited to dive into the eBike world. I've been eyeing them for a while, mostly for commuting to work (about 10 miles each way, mostly flat with a few small hills) and some weekend leisure rides on paved trails. I'm completely new to this, so I'm wondering, for someone just starting out, what's the absolute best place to begin looking? Should I focus on specific brands, motor types, or is there a "must-have" feature for beginners? Any advice would be awesome!

Welcome to the eBike world, you're going to love it! For your commute and leisure rides, a Class 1 or 3 eBike with a mid-drive motor would be fantastic, as they offer a really natural pedaling feel, especially with those small hills. Definitely try to test ride a few different options if possible; seeing how a hub motor versus a mid-drive feels for you personally is super valuable. Don't forget to factor in good lights and a sturdy lock for commuting!
