eBike technology explained
Hey everyone!
I've been riding my new Class 3 commuter eBike (a Gazelle Ultimate C380, if anyone's curious!) for a few weeks now, mostly on paved paths and some light gravel, covering about 20 miles a day. I'm constantly amazed by how different the assist feels compared to my old pedal-assist mountain bike, even though both are Bosch motors. It got me thinking: beyond the obvious motor wattage, what are the real technical differences that make certain brands (like Bosch, Shimano, Fazua, Bafang) feel so distinct in their power delivery, torque sensing, and overall ride experience? Are there specific technologies or algorithms that set them apart, especially when comparing, say, a mid-drive from one brand to another?
Would love to hear your insights or experiences comparing different systems!
