Legal regulations for eBikes

Been thinking a lot lately about the ever-changing legal landscape for eBikes. It seems like every state, and even some cities, have different rules for class 1, 2, and 3 bikes, and it can get super confusing trying to keep up.

I'm especially curious about how these regulations affect trail access – like, can my Class 1 hardtail legally hit that sweet singletrack I love, or is it restricted to paved paths? Anyone else navigating this maze? What's been your experience, especially with local rules?
