Legal regulations for eBikes

Hey everyone,

I've been thinking a lot lately about the legal side of eBikes, especially with all the different classes and power outputs out there. It seems like regulations can vary so much, not just state-to-state, but even city-to-city sometimes, which makes planning rides a bit confusing. For those of you who've been riding a while, how do you keep up with the specific laws for your area regarding things like motor wattage limits or where you can even ride? I'm particularly curious if anyone has run into issues with maintenance or modifications (like upgrading a motor) that then put them outside legal limits.
