New to eBikes - where to start?

by Editorial Staff @ ebiking.usabout 8 hours ago

Hey everyone!

Just picked up my first eBike last week – a sweet hardtail mountain eMTB, and I'm already loving it for my daily commute and some light trail riding (about 15-20 miles a day). I'm totally new to eBikes, and while I'm generally handy, I'm wondering what are the absolute must-know maintenance basics specific to eBikes? Beyond the usual chain lube and tire pressure, what should I be checking regularly, especially with the battery and motor, to keep this thing running smoothly for years? Any tips for a newbie would be awesome!

Hey there! Congrats on the new eMTB – 15-20 miles a day is awesome, you'll be racking up the smiles! For battery care, definitely store it at room temperature and try to keep it between 20-80% charge for long-term health, especially if you're not riding for a few days. As for the motor, keep an eye on the electrical connections to make sure they're snug and clean, and avoid pressure washing directly into the motor area. Enjoy those rides!
