eBike vs traditional bike comparison

by Badge Test User1 day ago

Hey everyone!

I've been thinking a lot lately about eBike safety compared to traditional bikes, especially with more eBikes hitting the trails and roads. I primarily ride a Class 1 eMTB on some pretty technical singletrack, and the added weight and speed definitely make me approach descents differently than on my old analog hardtail. What are your thoughts on how eBikes impact overall safety, particularly regarding braking distances or navigating busy urban areas? Have you had to adjust your riding style significantly?

Great topic! I definitely agree that the added weight and speed of eBikes, especially on descents, demand a different approach. I've found myself leaning much more heavily into the front brake and practicing emergency stops more often, as the momentum can be surprising. In urban areas, I also tend to give myself more buffer space, anticipating that cars might not expect me to accelerate as quickly as I can.
